Description
NOTE: All of our dyno work is now handled by our new sister company, EFI Tuning. The location and type of service from Chris, our tuner, is completely unchanged. You can continue to contact us via this website, or our new EFI Tuning site. If you’d like to order and pay up front for any of our tuning options then you can now ONLY do this on our new EFI Tuning website, located here: www.efi-tuning.co.uk
At EFI we have the tools and know-how allowing us full control of the Clio 172 and 182 factory ECU (Sirius 32, 32N, 34 and EMS3134 amongst others).
The factory original ECU is well suited to running modified original engines; Modifications including filter and exhaust upgrades, inlet or exhaust manifold upgrades, performance camshafts, head work, compression ratio lifts and any combination of the above. If you’ve performed any of these modifications and are looking for a dyno proven, custom, safe and optimal re-map by somebody who really knows these engines then you have come to the right place.
Q: How is this re-map performed ?
A: You’ll need to book a slot with us so we can get your car on to our dyno here. Along with weekday slots we’ll often have weekend slots available too.
Q: What stage are your N/A re-maps ?
A: This is not how we work. Everything here is custom tuned, on the dyno, in front of your eyes with explanations made along the way should you be curious. A re-map of a standard engine yields only marginal performance gains and anything other than standard should be considered custom since no two modified engines are the same.
Q: Is it worth me having this full, custom re-map performed with my standard (or close-to-standard) engine ?
A: Honestly, it isn’t. If you’re engine is stock or mildly modified and you’re looking to optimize what you have then you can save some money by opting for our ‘stock engine’ custom remap instead, described here: Clio 172/182 Stock engine custom remap
Q: What parameters are you able to adjust ?
A: Just about everything. When re-mapping your ECU to accommodate wilder cams, intake modifications and the like we’ll regularly need to alter the ECU’s idle control parameters, throttle behaviour, transient fueling, RPM limits, lambda control, warm-up behaviour, VVT operation and of course fuel and spark timing.
Other folk offer custom tuning for these ECU’s but not many (incredibly few!) really understand these ECU’s and the many variables hidden within. Additional parameters which we have access to and which are often overlooked include; Accel fuelling, throttle dash-pot, default throttle positions, advanced parameters pertaining to idle control, crank fuelling, post-crank enrichment, corrections for air & water temperature, coil dwell, advanced lambda parameters and thresholds, VVT, knock control and many other functions. This means we can properly tune your ECU to match any cam profile, any injector type, any exhaust manifold and any other modification you can perform. We even offer a forced induction solution for those of you with turbo’s or superchargers!
Q: How long does it take ?
A: On average it’ll take 2 hours on the rolling road.
Q: What are the common modifications you’ll tune for ?
A: Usually camshaft swaps often coupled with other upgrades. Clio 197 camshafts for example are a cost effective upgrade and work well coupled with matched ports, de-cat exhaust and induction.
Q: Does it matter if my ECU has been locked by a 3rd party map or flash tool ?
A: No, we’ll be able to recover control of your ECU. There is no additional charge for this.
Please drop us an email if you have any other questions.
For wilder engine upgrades (including turbos, superchargers, etc.) please get in touch so we can discuss other options. It may be that we can still adjust the stock ECU to suit or it may be that a fully programmable standalone ECU is the best way to go. This is usually the case for higher powered forced induction engines. Note: We can support low-mid boost turbo and supercharger applications with our TURBO ECU KIT (Forced induction module).
Aside from re-mapping we’re also able to carry out firmware upgrades, map removal (ECU resetting), map transfer from one unit to another, immobiliser virginizing, repairs and more.
Note: The term “live” mapped these days has become interchangeable with “custom dyno tuned”. The Renault ECU is not in fact mapped live, rather data is collected, the ECU adjusted and the engine run again. This sequence repeats until we are happy the ECU is properly calibrated.
